Come On LIberals, You Can Do Better

So I took a long hiatus because I felt everything that needed to be said about the politics of the day or the latest race-based outrage was being pretty well covered.  However I'm once again drawn back in because we seem to focus on one story at a time--typically the least important.

So first day back I'm just going to throw some random thoughts out there and see what sticks...
1) Herman Cain is not going to be elected to anything.  I swear if he is I'll eat my hat on YouTube.  Can we stop using him to get clicks--I'm looking at you HuffPo.
2) Who cares that Michelle Bachman gets migraines?  She's 5 points behind the frontrunner! Let's start talking about her policy positions because I think she could get elected in this crazy country.
3) MSNBC I understand how gleeful you are over the News Corp debacle, but Rupert Murdoch will not go to jail.  We may be able to use this to give the FCC some teeth and bring back ownership regulations but even that is a longshot.
4) Bill Clinton says he'd invoke the 14th amendment if he were faced with the current debt ceiling stalemate.

And there's your winner!  Just when you think public political debate couldn't get more ridiculous, Clinton steps in swinging his dick around.  Clinton knows full well that if POTUS invokes 14 we'll go to a "Death Panel"-mode of hysteria in a milisecond. Clinton is to liberals what Reagan is to conservatives and he enjoys it a little too much.

It's easy to say what you'd do in a given situation (that's what the old folks call selling wolf tickets) and with a Monica under every desk, all the world's problems would be solved.  Bill, are your southern roots kicking in or is it your monumental arrogance?  It's deplorable that he's never really supported this president.  It's unfathomable that in the face of all that's going on we STILL cannot get a united Democrat party.  I'm exhausted of it.

And the media, in perpetual fear of losing access, has nothing. Back in May, Clinton was recorded telling Paul Ryan to call him to discuss Medicare. He patted him on the back and said "We gotta get this done."  Rachel Maddow showed the clip on her show and nobody picked it up.  I think that demonstrates that ALL media is corrupt; not just media owned by Rupert Murdoch.  Even the crunchy-granola, liberal station in the Bay didn't touch this story.

Sigh...

If the voting public really started connecting the dots and looked at the similarities in the Republican and Democrat parties, of the 21st century,  a fourth party with muscle and brains, that actually understands politics, the constitution and policy could become a reality.  We could have a media that provides facts instead of sensationalism and bombast.  Just the thought gives me a tingle up my leg.

Rebellion isn't coming anytime soon; we're too busy being mad at Casey Anthony and eating our way to diabetes.  Had Marie Antoinette told this country to eat cake we would have complained that it wasn't chocolate.

It makes you wonder if the conspiracy theorists are right...maybe we're all pawns on a giant chess board and all the bloviating and finger pointing is just for show.

Ahead of the Curve...Again

Don't you hate it when you have a thought first and then the media finally start to come around to your line of thinking. I KNOW! When Mad Men debuted I wondered at the thought process behind setting a show in the 60s. I wondered if this would be the new trend in that instead of having to answer for why there is no diversity in your programming you can fall back on the "it's true to the times" meme. I think it's lazy. I don't think Hollywood writers are willing to stretch and I don't think producers are willing to hire Black writers and directors.

Check out Tim Wise and this.  Actually really interesting takes on the popularity of Mad Men.

Okay now that's all I got....

Hey Y'all There's Black Folks On TV

So while the rest of Amerikkka mourned, I let my mind wander over some random thoughts today. For example, what is it about Amerikkkans that we love to wallow in our various miseries? Seriously, why are we always commemorating some tragedy or another? Yes, I remember exactly where I was nine years ago and probaly won't ever forget the sight of those buildings coming down or how my hands shook as I called around to find various family members and friends. However, I still question why this country loves to perpetuate this schizophrenia that it is dually the greatest country on earth and the most put upon. Woe is us...

Anyway...

Hey y'all there's gonna be Black folks on TV--sexy Black folks too! For years there's been a void in network programming and now I feel we've at least started to fill it. JJ Abrams (one of my favorites) is helming the show which bodes well for it having a full season to build an audience. It's kind of pitiful really, that one show is getting so much buzz in the community, but we all know what it is...positive portrayals of Black folks in television and film are few and far between. Not very long ago Black folks in television and film was an event worthy of stopping all activity to pile in the car to go to the theater or all gather in front of the console. What the hell is Hollywood afraid of anyway? We already know we're the key influencers of most pop cuture--can't you at least grant us a little screen time? Dammit I'm sick of Tyler Perry and I demand an alternative. Here's wishing good luck to Vanessa Williams who is joining the botoxed ladies of Wisteria Lane and The Game which (fingers crossed) is coming to BET. Takers was #1 at the box office. I am verklempt at the abundance.

Oh and a final thought while I'm on this stream of conciousness; Venus Williams played in the US Open on Friday and I want to give her a standing O. WTF are these sports writers and pundits on anyway? They just hate Venus and Serena. Somebody (can't remember who as they are not worthy of the brain cells) had the audacity to say that if Serena would show some commitment and focus she would be more successful. The last NINE Wimbledon were won by either Serena or Venus Williams--that's one hell of a commitment and some laser focus if you ask me. Hey what do I know...I was confused as to why the Amerikkkan audience was rooting for the Belgian player in the US Open, but hey all's fair in love and racial dynamics in Amerikkka.

The N-Word Debate

I try to refrain from posting about articles and events that have been discussed ad nauseum in the MSM. However, the excuses and accusations leveled by these self-hating Negroes have forced me back to the keyboard.

I will try to keep my rage to a minimum.

Dr. Laura, (who is a doctor of Physiology) http://mediamatters.org/mmtv/201008120037 went on an N-word rant last week. First, why is anyone surprised by this? Second, who cares? I mean seriously, a white woman said the N-word 11 times on the radio--I'm sure if we put microphones in the cars or homes of most limousine liberals you would hear that word A LOT more than that.

In my humble opinion her use of the N-word is neither surprising nor an issue. It was a desperate act by a pseudo-celebrity to get some headlines and buzz. THINK people--what African American woman would call Dr. Laura, of all people, to discuss the fact that her husband's friends say racist things to her and the husband doesn't do anything to rectify the situation? Stop being so damn gullible!

The thing that really grinds my gears (TM Family Guy) is the reaction by the House Negro contingent. It's either Black folks are too sensitive or those Negroes in the ghetto should stop using that word in that damn hippity hop they listen to. See the problem is HN's think we FN's are niggers too. They look down their noses at us. They have always disparaged Hip Hop as noise rather than an art form that expresses the angst and rage of the urban ethnic community. They still cannot fathom the rage we feel at the racism that STILL exists in this country. Therefore, they use an event that should have been a five minute blip to once again lecture the rest of us.

You know what I want to know where do Earl Ofari Hutchison, John McWhorter and Kelli Goff hide during the Oscar Grant trial, or when Mitrice Richardson goes missing? Ms. Richardson couldn’t get a minute on HLN or CNN let alone a special segment like her blonde counterparts http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-504083_162-5339581-504083.html.

I’m sorry I digressed into a bit of rage—my bad.

Bottom line, people like Dr. Laura throw around the N-word because it's all they have left. They need us to feel marginalized! G*d forbid some little girl in the ghetto, on scholarship to an amazing prep school, decides she's going to become the next Barack Obama. They cannot have us thinking that way or raising our kids to believe that! It would destroy the foundation of white supremacist societal norms.

They need us to be distracted! It gives them time to explore repealing the 13th and 14th amendments. Thank Allah; there are still men like John Conyers around in Congress that can perceive the implications for us if these amendments are modified or repealed.

Dr. Laura and her ilk know that their numbers are shrinking and the only way to remain powerful despite their small demo is to divide our consciousness and keep us from focusing on the big picture.

Peace & Blessings

Once A Jackass...Always A Jackass

So poor Howard Stern is feeling irrelevant so he had to go and say something insulting about Gabourey Sidibe to get some attention. I was going to spend this post advocating for people to not be polite or politically correct. Recently the masses have taken to spewing racist BS and then bemoaning political correctness when confronted. As I have said previously, please America don't be politically correct so that WE can stop being politically correct--I think you'd be shocked at how many Jeremiah Wrights you have in your midst.

However, Howard's rant wasn't racist it was just stupid, mean and ill-informed. So for those that don't know today on his show Stern said that Gabby wouldn't get anymore work because she's enormous. I'm not even going to address resident House Negro Quivers co-signing this foolishness I'll just pose some questions that I hope gives pause and enlightens.

Howard, have you heard of Oprah Winfrey? You know she's one of the richest people on the planet. She was pretty large herself so I think she knows of what she speaks when she says Gabby is going to have a brilliant career. Howard, dear, have you heard of Whoopi Goldberg? Yeah, she's one of the few people on the planet that has an Oscar, Emmy, Tony, and Grammy award--not a traditional Hollywood beauty. Queen Latifah, Mo'Nique, and my all time favorite Nell Carter are all Oscar, Grammy, and Tony award winners.

What is it about those in the main? They are really struggling with the success of Gabby and Mo'Nique. To say Oprah, who had the exact same thing said about her chances of success, was lying to Gabby just demonstrates your stupidity and painful inability to see the irony in your own words.

For the record Gabby is signed to do a series for Showtime and already has another movie in the works. Congratulations Gabby!!

What's up with you Howard? I didn't know you were still on the air...

God Bless the Child

So today someone changed their Facebook status to say Happy Black History Month and proceeded on a jag about Black folks looking for handouts. So of course your resident Nationalist had to take it on. Now, it didn't help that the person making this statement is a Black cop who grew up in the system. I quote "I don't have pics of myself as a child because we couldn't afford a camera." Really dude? And you have the gall to disparage poor people? Poor people that look like you? I've asked this question of conservative blacks repeatedly and they can quote Frederick Douglass and Malcolm X well enough about being self-reliant but they never fully address the real issue. Let me quote myself before I get started...YES THERE ARE LAZY, TRIFLING NEGROES THAT SPEND THEIR CHECKS ON BOOZE AND BS. However there are just as many if not more who are paying mortgages, going to school and supporting their [extended] families.

So tell me, officer, once you have a record because of some bullshit like this what job will you get? The brother that was recently released after serving 20 years for a crime he didn't commit-- can he get a job? Did they release him and expunge his record?

Furthermore, in this economy especially, how many of us are a paycheck or two away from homelessness? Would it be wrong to apply for unemployment? I paid into it for a number of years why shouldn't I get some of that back?

Or, if you're a single parent struggling to make ends meet but you've got a great kid whose smart and wants to go to college should that parent not look for Pell grants, etc.?

Oh but wait, I get it now officer, you were talking about welfare. You know what I have to give credit to the conservatives for creating that pink roller wearing, ebonic slinging, black welfare mama that everyone seems to think is real. We are 13% of the population people--there aren't enough of us to be the overwhelming recipients of the government's largesse. We may overindex within our 13% but we do not receive public assistance in larger numbers than other racial groups. The largest single group receiving welfare happens to be Wal-Mart employees, but that's another post for another time.

Facts regarding welfare can be found here. Hope your conservative head doesn't explode.

Oh and one more thing...the first Black president gutted welfare over ten years ago so even if you're getting benefits now you better be looking for an alternative as the limitations are so overwhelming.

Asserting people want to be on welfare is as stupid as saying people on unemployment don't look for work. I know life would be easier if there were simple answers to complex questions but that's just not the way it is. Those of us that were born in poverty and made it out, did so by God's grace. I don't care what kind of assistance one gets I don't think anyone enjoys poverty. And if you are someone who wears a uniform with protect and serve anywhere on it and you hold these views don't ask why you're disparaged, not trusted and generally reviled... the answer is no further than your Facebook status.

Peace & Blessings

Still Digesting the Speech But...

Do the Obamanuts realize it makes you no more committed to the liberal cause than me or any of the other Doubters to stand by President Obama in his errors. Today one of the radio blowhards on the left actually read a list of things POTUS has accomplished in this his first year. Why don't we just concede that we projected attributes onto Obama that we wanted him to have? Liberals are so desperate to distract us from their inertia that a kid trying to get some shine as the rightwing Demetri Martin takes up every minute of the left cable blowhards' shows!

How about that speech? Am I the only one that heard him say we're going to do some offshore drilling? I got excited about WPA 2.0.

After watching him for a year I'm optimistically pragmatic.

God Bless Us
