Do the Obamanuts realize it makes you no more committed to the liberal cause than me or any of the other Doubters to stand by President Obama in his errors. Today one of the radio blowhards on the left actually read a list of things POTUS has accomplished in this his first year. Why don't we just concede that we projected attributes onto Obama that we wanted him to have? Liberals are so desperate to distract us from their inertia that a kid trying to get some shine as the rightwing Demetri Martin takes up every minute of the left cable blowhards' shows!
How about that speech? Am I the only one that heard him say we're going to do some offshore drilling? I got excited about WPA 2.0.
After watching him for a year I'm optimistically pragmatic.

Guess Who's Back

I'm stretching and clearing my throat so give me just a sec. Like-minded bloggers have been doing a great job in my absence so I've laid low. The thing I hate most about the media is how much it repeats itself. However, I think I may have a differing view on the message behind this image.
Essence magazine, the beauty bible for Black women, the platform on which we have built our self-esteem--what in the HELL is going on over there?! Now, don't get me wrong dude's got great abs, but really? Reggie Bush? Major faux pas choosing a man who is not dating a black woman, but let's leave race out of this. What does it say to Black women, who already struggle with their image in the media, that you're encouraging and promoting a Black man's love for a woman who is famous for a SEX TAPE? What message are you sending to our daughter's Essence? Far be it for me to talk morality, but there's something wrong with a society that creates celebrity for celebrity's sake. There's something wrong with a magazine that purports to celebrate Black women putting a man on the cover who loves such a person to convey a message of Black love.
One commenter on essence.com said she would have been happier with Robin Thicke. I agree sistah--so would I. Shame on you Essence. You're supposed to support us, to dispel the myth of the Angry Black Woman, or good men being hard to find or there being more brothers in jail than college (look it up). We are a community of women who overwhelmingly grow up without fathers. How could you not give us something to aspire to and be proud of?
You couldn't find one example of Black love?
Borrow mine then...

Oh Snap! Charlie Sheen Held a Knife to His Wife's Throat...Anybody? Bueller?
Go easy on me I feel a little like Rip Van Blogger. I have to say my fellow bloggers are doing a wonderful job in conveying what's in my head. However, I have, what I think, is a different perspective on some things I've seen and some questions for my readers who are MUCH smarter than me.
What exactly is unusual about an athlete having sex with several women none of whom are his wife?
What does said athlete have in common with an athlete who murdered his wife or another who raped a young girl? Or the POTUS? I don't know but racism found a way to link them all...wonders how racism managed that SMH?

Aah the media....I haven't missed you or your legendary racism.
Here's what I'd like to know how do we completely ignore this and clutch our collective pearls because a high paid athlete wanted to get his swerve on marriage not withstanding.
I'm not a Tiger fan and I refuse to be one of those Black folks that supports her own just for the sake of it--especially when that person won't acknowledge that they are one of mine. But this is an outrageous bit of revisionist history.
Gonna repost something I saw on Racialicious that speaks to the phenomena of race and sports much better than I can.
When this whole Tiger mess started there was some rumbling in the media about stripping him of his Athlete of the Decade honor. THIS I have no problem with if he were replaced with the the awesome that is Serena Williams. He's earned more money. He's more popular with the general population, but Serena is simply awesome .
